Beginnings of ceramic production on an
industrial scale in Turda are dated in 1935
when “ CORAL Turda – Porcelain
National Manufactury “ , Romanian Ltd.
Co. was established. The main products
consist in household ceramic commodities ,
electrotechnical ceramics, refractory
materials and porcelain lab items.
Successive stages of development which the
company has passed lead- after 1945 - to
expansion of the importance in manufacturing
profile of the electrotechnical ceramic
products. Company had to change its name into
“ ELECTROCERAMICA “ in 1949.
Modernization which was made during 1950
– 1958 determined the development of
electrical insulators production by
construction of new halls and buying of
modern equipments.
Larger and larger demand of
electrotechnical ceramic products on the
Romanian market caused a major stage of
development of the company in 1966 –
1967. New production sites were built and
modern equipments were put into service for
producing insulators as well as for carrying
out the complete tests on the ceramic bodies
and on the finished products .
S.C. ELECTROCERAMICA S.A.Turda is the
main producer of electrotechnical ceramics in
Romania. Production includes all the range of
insulators used in electrotechnical industry,
in production, transport and distribution of
electrical power too.
Porcelain insulators
are the most part in manufacturing volume
but, speaking of other products made of
special ceramics i.e., ceramic bodies for
pressing, low and medium voltage electrical
apparatus, heating elements, these also have
their importance by creating opportunity to
meet the clients’ needs to a great
extent. Otherwise, it is one of our main
concerns. We wish for making goods at a high
technical standard and firstly are concerned
with diversifying and renewal of the offered
range of products. Conformity of the Quality
Management System is certified by ISO 9001:2000.
Products
intended to be used for construction, modernization,
maintaining and fixing of the railway substructure
and rolling stock at the rail transport are certified
by AFER - qualified national authority.
It is a private
integral capital company. The major holder is
Barberi Rubinetterie Industriali s.r.l. in Valduggia-Italia
which holds about 70% of shares. The remaining stocks belong to
SIF Oltenia (about 13%) and other shareholders (about 17%).

ELECTROCERAMICA S.A. is placed in
Turda, on the European road which connects Viena to
Bucharest, at a distance of 190 km. from Bors - the
entrance place to Romania. The nearest airport is in Cluj at
30 km. from Turda and the nearest railstation can be found in
Campia Turzii, at 10 km.distance. The town is
situated on the Aries Valley, an area with special tourist's
points as The Turda's Gorges, the Salt Lakes in the surroundings
of Turda, Turda Saline the karst phenomena in the Apuseni Mountains.
The plant
is located on an area of about 9,500 sq.m., from which the buildings
represent about 5,500 sq.m. The main production hall has got a
surface of 3,600 sq.m. The workshops for low medium and high voltage
insulator production are situated in this hall as well as those workshops
for preparing of the ceramic body and dry sprayed ceramic powder.
There are about 360 employed persons and the production capacity of
electrical insulators is 5,000 tons/year.

producing of electrical power and the transport and
distribution networks in Europa, Asia,

the quality of products is one of the reasons for which a great
